Part 2: MAPS Coffee Roasters: Columbian Coffee

(EN.) Well today I tried the Colombia coffee. This is the package containing the coffee. It has a small description of the flavor you will taste. It is written: "medium body, crisp acidity, and nutty flavor. /////// (ES.) Bueno hoy probé el café de Colombia. Este es el empaque y contiene una pequeña descripción que establece el tipo de sabor que experimentarás en tu paladar. Se supone que el café es de cuerpo mediano, delicado y sabor a nuez.

(EN.) Well, I don't know about you guys but I had to buy a small coffee grinder. I didn't have one because the coffee we buy is already grinded. And even at the supermarket you find a huge machine that grinds it there before you buy it. //////// (ES.) Pues no sé ustedes pero tuvimos que comprar una moledora de café. No tenía una porque el café que compramos ya está molido. En el supermercado tienen una máquina gigante que muele el café antes de comprarlo.

(EN.) So my parents and me went on a mission to find the perfect grinder. We went to Walmart and saw two brands. We ended up buying the Mr. Coffee brand. It cost $20.00 dollars. But it was worth it. /////// (ES.) Asi es que mis padres y yo nos dimos a la tarea de buscar una moledora de café perfecta. En Walmart vimos dos marcas. Terminamos comprando la marca Mr. Coffee. Nos costó  $20.00 dólares pero fueron bien invertidos.

(EN.) Then at home right after dinner my dad and I, coffee lovers, decided to try it out. And below is the process. First we opened the bag. Then we took three tablespoons of the coffee beans and inserted them in the grinder. That was the exact amount for four cups of coffee. And my dad was sooo excited that he just went on and hit the button. //////// (ES.) En casa y después de la cena, mi papá y yo que somos amantes del café, decidimos probarlo. Abajo ilustro el proceso. Primero abrimos el empaque. Tomamos tres cucharadas de café y las metimos en la pequeña moledora. Esa cantidad era la exacta para cuatro tazas de café. Mi papá se emocionó tanto que solito marcó el botón porque estaba listo para consumirlo.

(EN.) As shown below the coffee was grinded. But we gave it a second grind because my dad noticed it was still coarse. And there you have it. All grinded up and ready to brew. The smell was AMAZING. Before brewing it there was this lovely-heavenly nutty flavor in the air that announced GREATNESS AND QUALITY all together. PERFECTION!!!!!!!! //////// (ES.) Como se ilustra a continuación molimos el café. Eso sí, tuvimos que molerlo dos veces porque no quedó tan fino como pensamos. Como puedes ver quedó perfecto y listo para hacerse. El olor era ESPECTACULAR. Incluso, antes de hacerse había un fuerte olor como a nuez tostada pero que a su vez era placentero, delicado, rico y que anunciaba PERFECCIÓN, GRANDEZA Y CALIDAD. 

(EN.) Then the moment came and it was PERFECT!!!!!!!!! I drank it black with no sugar. My dad likes his with lots of milk and his Stevia. But even drinking his coffee like that we could tell it was delicious. We talked about the flavors and unique taste. The coffee is really light, nutty flavored, strong aroma and has a crisp acidity. The thing is that since we do not have an espresso machine the oils of the coffee bean get lost in the filter brewing process. That means that the flavor oils get removed leaving the coffee with a lighter body flavor. ////// (ES.) Y llegó el momento. Estaba ¡¡¡¡¡¡¡PERFECTOOOOO!!!!!!!!! Tomé el café negro y sin azúcar. Mi papá lo tomó diferente. A él le encanta con mucha leche y con su Stevia. Les tengo que comentar que aunque lo tomó de esa forma, pudimos coincidir que sabía RIQUÍSIMO. Comentamos sobre el sabor único que contiene. El café es liviano, con sabor a nuez, fuerte aroma y acidez. Como no tenemos una máquina de café espresso los aceites naturales del café se pierden en el proceso de filtración. Significa que el producto final será liviano y no en su estado natural.

(EN.) The coffee had a bittersweet aroma and the aftertaste in your mouth was light. My mouthfeel was enjoyable. I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY ENJOYED THE COFFEE. It left a good aftertaste. The next day was the same experience. And our stomach didn't suffer any harsh consequence at all. It was super light and I LOVED IT. My dad, who doesn't like drinking other types of coffee was really happy and wanted more. So imagine how good it was!!!! //////// (ES.) El café tiene un aroma y sabor agridulce pero el sabor que queda en tu boca es suave y liviano. El sabor en mi paladar fue sumamente placentero. ¡¡¡¡¡¡¡ME ENCANTÓ MUCHO, MUCHO, MUCHO!!!!!! Realmente me dejó un sabor delicado. Al día siguiente tuve la misma experiencia. Tampoco nos cayó pesado. Es súper liviano y eso ME GUSTÓ MUCHÍSIMO. A mi papá que no le gusta tomar otros tipos de café le encantó, se quedó bien contento y hasta quería más. ¡¡¡¡¡¡Imagina que rico quedó!!!!!!!

Part 1: (Intro) MAPS Coffee Roasters

(EN.) MAPS Coffee Roasters is a small coffee roasters and chocolate business located in Lenexa Kansas. We met on instagram because I am a coffee lover and chocolate lover. But that will be another story. ///////// (ES.) MAPS Coffee Roasters es una pequeña compañía, ubicada en Lenexa Kansas, que se dedica a tostar el grano de café y trabaja también con el chocolate. Pero esa es otra historia. 

(EN.) One day I wrote the company through instagram asking if they delivered coffee to Puerto Rico. I did it because sometimes you just need to sample things from different parts of the World. You can always shop local but there is no harm in tasting new things. ///// (ES.) Un día le escribí a la compañía mediante instagram preguntándoles si enviaban café a Puerto Rico. Lo hice porque a veces es necesario probar cosas nuevas de diferentes partes del mundo. Siempre debes comprar artículos locales pero no hay nada de malo en probar cosas nuevas.

(EN.) In that ocassion no replied was made. //// (ES.) En esa ocasión no hubo respuesta.

(EN.) But time passed and one April day, a sweet, charming and really cool guy called Vincent contacted me by direct message and thanked me for liking their pics. We started chatting and I learned many wonderful things about him and his company. //// (ES.) El tiempo pasó y un día en abril, un chico amable, dulce y divertido que se llama Vincent, me escribió en un mensaje privado agradeciéndome tanto cariño y me gusta hacia sus fotos. Comenzamos una conversación sumamente amena y descubrí muchas cosas sobre él y su empresa.

(EN.) He has been working with coffee for over 20 years. He used to work for different coffee companies until he decided to make his own company. All of his coffee is Arabica, some are Organic, Fair Trade and Direct Trade offerings. //// (ES.) Él estuvo trabajando con café por más de 20 años. Estuvo trabajando en compañías de café hasta que un día decidió comenzar su propia compañía. Todo su café es arábigo. Algunos son orgánicos, otros bajo el "fair trade" y otros donde el contacto es directo con los productores del café. 

(EN.) Soooo he sent me some coffee and this is what and how it came...//// (ES.) Asi es queee él me envió algunos tipos de café y llegó a mi casa de esta forma...

(EN.) A huge box with this unique strong and AMAZING coffee smell. The coffee was well and carefully wrapped. I noticed that Vincent takes really good care and pride in what he offers the World because of the way everything was carefully placed. //////////// (ES.) Una caja inmensa con un olor único y ESPECTACULAR a café llegó. El café está envuelto de una manera cautelosa y bien cuidada. Eso me dejó pensando que Vincent es el tipo de persona que toma de su tiempo para hacer las cosas bien, le encanta su trabajo y le tiene respeto al producto que le ofrece al consumidor. Eso me impactó mucho y dice tantas cosas bonitas sobre su persona que me encantó.

(EN.) He sent me four different types. (Colombia, Brazil, Rift Valley and Ethiopia) I guess they are the four types of coffee described above. (Arabica, Organic, Fair Trade and Direct Trade) ////////// (ES.) Me envió cuatro tipos de café. (Colombia, Brazil, Rift Valley and Ethiopia) Pienso que me envió una variedad de los cuatro tipos de café mencionados anteriormente. (Arabica, Organic, Fair Trade and Direct Trade)

(EN.) ****About the coffee... I tried so far the Colombia and it is REEEALLLYYY REAAAALLLYYYY REEEEALLLLYYY GOOODDD!!!!!!!**** ///////// (ES.) ****Sobre el café... He probado el de Colombia y sabe RIQUÍSIMO RIIIIQUIIISIMOO RICO RICOOO.****

(EN.) Every package of coffee is 12 oz and you can buy it for  $12.00. He sent me a thank you note and even a pin!!!!! How cool is that?!?! Vincent is a really awesome guy. You should give him a try. Cyber Monday

This is the second blog I write in English and Spanish. I am doing this because I noticed that people around the World are trying to read my blog. Spanish is my first language. English is my second. My goal here is to write about fashion and the different looks and styles that you can wear with clothes you already have. Cyber Monday, ¿what can I say?
